It's Reggae Time!
Over the years, Louisville has had an increasing, diverse population. One of those groups are the lovely people from one of our neighboring islands, Jamaica. They bring with them a rich culture, a delicious cuisine, and a music that will get both of your feet moving to the rhythm.
To celebrate their culture, music, and food, WFPK is hosting the Reggae Picnic. Here is a snippet from their website:
World Force Reggae hosts Benny and Ibuka will meet you at Waterfront Park’s Brown Forman Amphitheater Saturday, Aug. 29 from 4pm to 7pm! Commune with friends and family, and picnic under the trees. We’ll provide the reggae music and games for the young ones. You can also take them to cool off at the Adventure Playground water features nearby! This event is FREE.
Be sure to bring a $5 bill with you to grab some of their delicious food, which may include some authentic Jamacian jerk chicken or other various treats. Last year's Reggae Block Party at Headliners was an excellent and relaxing time, so I am expecting the same out of this event. Be sure to schedule this one so you don't miss it!

And in keeping with the same theme, it is time again for a poster contest!
The International Reggae Poster Contest has been created in part to help make the dream of a Reggae Hall of Fame a reality. Here is a little information they supplied about the contest:
The Fourth International Reggae Poster Contest 2015 will open for entries for our 4th edition on July 15th, 2015 and it will run until October, 15th, 2015. The top 100 posters will be selected by a jury panel of design professionals and will be exhibited in our “Art of Reggae Exhibitions” around the world.
